Cary and his family packed up and moved to the Kansas City area in 2013 when Cary took a job as a counselor at Peace Partnership in Lee's Summit. Cary and Lynsey met at the University of Alabama where he was studying psychology and she was studying finance. They've been married since 2005 and have three wonderful kids. Both Cary and Lynsey love hanging out with friends and watching movies with family.

Cary has a passion for helping individuals and families to find healing through counseling, and his Christian faith is a key component of both his personal and professional life. He is an experienced Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) in Missouri and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Kansas. His focus is primarily in marriage counseling, adolescent therapy, and family therapy. His motto is "simplify", and he tries to live this out in both his professional and personal life. He has a doctorate of counseling from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a masters degree in biblical counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary. He earned his bachelors degree in psychology from the University of Alabama and holds a certificate as a National Board Certified Counselor. He is trained in EMDR and the Gottman Method.

Mike and Diane have been married since 1987 and have four married daughters, who have blessed them with eleven grandchildren. Mike received his master’s degree in theological studies as well as his master’s degree in counseling. Before coming to Lakewood, he was the director of rehabilitation and resident manager at Salvation Army and City Union Mission in Kansas City. He was also a teacher and counselor at Culpepper Juvenile Correctional Facility and spent 9 years in the pastorate before being called into counseling full time. Before entering the ministry and counseling fields, Mike owned and managed a drywall construction company.

Mike believes, "A meaningful life is never too late." He is passionate about helping individuals and families. And he believes that a holistic counseling approach of instruction, guidance, and insight, can help them achieve meaning and purpose in their lives through personal development and emotional growth. Mike will always come with a listening ear and an open heart. He believes that therapy is a great resource and is most successful when the individual can engage in an unbiased and safe atmosphere to begin processing through their past, present, and future. His goal is to see everyone experience healing through healthy processing and move forward into the most rewarding future.

His style of therapy is eclectic psychotherapy, which will incorporate various types of theories, based on each individual situation. He works with individuals, couples, families, adolescents, young adults, adults and the elderly. He would love to meet with you if you are struggling with addictions, depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, marital conflicts, employment challenges, familial concerns, or re-entering society. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor, and has achieved Level I Trauma Certification.
